Seeing pics of Taylor all the times she’s won, and I was shocked to see just how unwell she looked when she won for 1989! Crazy that nobody really called it out at the time. As much of an obnoxious shit as she can be, I’m glad she’s in a much better place with her body. She looked really good last night.

I'm glad they actually had a nice flow of presentations and performances for the most part last night. But man, I do not understand some of the choices to leave out some key nominees (i.e. The Weeknd). Also, why was Bieber nominated for anything at all?

Genuinely happy for Bey, Megan, Dua, H.E.R. and several others.

The aoty nominees this year were really weird with the vast majority of them losing big or not even being nominated in their genre categories. I think most of the aoty nominees went home empty handed

It was more obvious then usual that the aoty nominees were picked by committee, and weren’t the “popular” choices or even the popular choices within genres

I agree. There were better/more interesting choices both in the mainstream and indie field. Like, how was FKA twigs ignored? Weeknd, obviously. No hip hop AOTY noms. No fucking Fiona Apple. There were so many female rock/hip hop breakthroughs in the past years and they ignored them for the AOTY cantegory completely. I get that the industry loves the narrative of Black Pumas started from the bottom career but they were so irrelevant both musically and pop culturally. Why not nominate the Brittany Howard album instead? Or Moses Sumney. How were Coldplay nominated in our lorde’s 2020? It’s almost like they made the AOTY shortlist knowing they will give it to Taylor and they wanted no real competition
