It’s amazing to me how Cardi came at just the right time and really started the wave of different women in rap becoming popular. It’s strange being able to see exactly when the train of just being Nick Minaj winning everything ended. Literally 2010-2016 Nicki won best female rapper at the BET awards. Then Remy ended her and won 2017 then Cardi swooped right in afterwards.

People are downplaying how Sheether was instrumental in Nicki's downfall. As problematic as it is, Remy went hard after Onika and all she could respond with was some accolades she's achieved lmao 🤡🤡🤡

Chickens came home to roost for Nicki. Messy husband, rape scandals, I'm not gonna touch what happened to her father because that is legitimately sad.

She would never be as popular as Cardi if she didn't try to blacklist all the other female rappers that were trying to make a come up during her reign and she knew that.

She's good at picking her beats imo, she knows what will take off. I don't think she's the strongest rapper (@ me, I don't care lol) but being up on the trends is a huge thing that she's good at.

Lol maybe ontd mostly pop fans can try it but no one who actually listens to hip hop would consider Cardi a good rapper, she's fun and sticks to that, she doesn't really write her bars, her delivery is mostly the same every time but the few things she can do, she does well enough.

Yeah. I think she has some catchy songs and her stage presence is good. But I've never considered her to be a skilled rapper or anything

I remember some ONTD members being dead-set on the notion Kulture (and canceling a tour while pregnant with her) was the end of her budding career and the arguments that ensued over it lmao.

I said this in another post a while back and someone was like "we didn't say it'd be the END of her career" and I was like okay dude. I saw what I saw lol

Revisionist history, smh. People definitely said that not being able to tour or perform because she was pregnant would make people forget about her, among other things about how babies ruin careers (and how Offset's would thrive).

Good for her, tbh. She def is messy but I respect her ability to hear a hit and the money and effort she throws at her videos and aesthetic.

She looks a LOT different than when she started tho, I didn’t realize until that single cover. Not different in a bad way, maybe more polished is a better way to say it. Like she doesn’t look like she does her own makeup anymore lol
