I mean... he's not wrong. There are very few (shit, maybe none?) mainstream bands anymore. I'm learning drums, and it really is kind of a dying thing because everything is electronic now.
that honestly boils down to the fact that alt-rock stations and country stations don't play women's music. i used to do weekly surveys for radio stations, and when i would do it for alt-rock stations i would be asked a question about a female artists songs about once every month.

I've been saying for years that "radio doesn't play women" and it seems doubly so for anything rock or "oldies" related. Then again, that's mostly what my partner listens to. Be it 80s or alt-rock, it's just dudes after dudes. every so often you get joan jett, madonna, cyndi, or pat benatar, but that's basically it around here. It's like 10 male songs for every female though I wonder what the actual stats are.
