i know about the elsa jokes and all but ngl if i were a kid i'd be all over getting as much sisu merchandise as i could

Hollywood went after HBO Max for releasing movies via streaming and theater when Disney is doing the same AND charging users extra to watch it..

Ill have to wait until this comes out on dvd or D+ for free.

i would if it were just another white princess but i'm not gonna let disney use a lack of revenue as an excuse to not make more AAPI focused movies.

To be fair, HBOMax is also way more expensive of a subscription in the long run.

The last pic looks a bit like what they have now, but they mixed too many things together. Like she has these fin like things that are too small for wings, idk if the blue part of her body is scales but then her head has hair/fur and she also has horns? Like pick one idea and go with it, preferably drop the fur and the unicorn like horn. Also I'd have vetoed the pink/light purple, go dark blue or dark purple instead.

But SEA dragons do have both scales and fur and a giant horn. That's actually on point.

I really miss the charm of hand drawn animation. All of the Disney cgi of the past ten years is just starting to blend together. I’m bored!

My one major let down with this movie is it's lack of music - I feel like if you're gonna add to Disney's young female protagonist lineup, you should make it a musical, it automatically guarantees it meeting a certain threshold of success

HOWEVER! I find it kinda sad people are ragging so much on "Elsa face" Sisu and kinda not acknowledging how well Raya has been animated to look actually SEA, which is like significantly more important lol. Also, I'm happy they seem to have nailed the martial arts / action element of this movie because that is it's single biggest selling point for me *shrug*

I'm torn, I really liked the music on Moana, but I haven't even seen a Frozen movie and loathe the overload of music those movies came with. Disney has a hard time finding a balance with this, I'd take a cool song sung over scenes in Raya, like Dreamworks did with Spirit. I'm just not much of a fan of the characters breaking into song and disrupting the story moving forward.

I'm ragging so much about the Sisu face and lazyness because everything else looks so good and finally different from the Tangled/Frozen face. They nailed it on all the other part of the world and hit it out of the park with the human characters, and then they dropped the ball on the dragon. And they can sell just as many Sisu toys if she is designed in a style that fits the rest of the world, she is a freaking dragon kids will love her just as much if she looks more like part of this world.
