Does it mention the Osbournes? I feel like they definitely paved the way for family type shows.
Also has anyone seen An American Family, essentially the original reality show? HBO did a movie about it years ago so PBS aired the original show but it ran overnight so I didn't get to see all of it.
-Preview shows the return of Megan Hauserman after disappearing from media after the I Love Money scandal.
Wait... uhhh.. are we sure the "scandal" wasn't the thing with Megan Wants a Millionaire when one of the contests was actually a murderer? She's done a few TV Appearances since then. It's crazy how that ended the Vh1 Reality Era, but obviously the vetting problems in their production came to light and I'd rather not have women in danger for my own amusement.
Charm School was my absolute guilty pleasure, I rewatched it in college and it really does not hold up in terms of messaging but everyone they casted was a comedic legend (except pumkin) and the girls are honestly much funnier than a lot of things on tv today.
I thought he appeared on Megans show and then did I Love Money and they scrapped the entire season since thats when the news broke? Or did do I love Money and then appeared on her show and they scrapped her season? But yeah, weird that it brought the end to that era of reality tv.
I'm not really sure. I know that Megan Wants to be a Millionaire or whatever only lasted 3 episodes and was cancelled bc of his actions. I do recall that they mightve had another season of I Love Money that never made it to air because of this, but just bc it ended Megan's show at the time, I just associate it with that more. Her season would have to conclude i think before they aired him in ILM?
And it ended the era of reality tv bc it showed that VH1 wasn't as judicious with their vetting as they seemed, and, in retrospect, a lot of these women (and to some extent men) could have been put, or were put, in incredibly dangerous situations and VH1 was incredibly lucky the whole time.
edit: just...did not sit right w me that i went full wikipedia and called it a controversy smh @ me
