ooooh Night of the Kings looks really good!! I love movies about storytelling that blend a fantasy world with a real one, it seems right up my alley. definitely gonna check that one out.

I watched Judas and the Black Messiah on Tuesday and that was the only movie I've seen in months that really excited me about filmmaking. hoping I can get back into watching movies again, it just hasn't interested me lately and whenever I would try I felt really disconnected, but maybe I'm starting to move out of that phase.

I really liked Night of the Kings! I'd rec reading at least a little about the griot tradition before watching it to get more context, but I've seen all sorts of people appreciate the film without knowing that context too

We watched Minari over the weekend - loved the specificity of the viewpoint, and some of the performances, but I thought it was fine - didn't love it. The woman who played the grandma, Youn Yuh-jung, was one of my favorite parts, and I just saw this on Twitter the other day:

Look at these Vogue Korea photos of Youn Yuh-jung, star of #Minari

This week, I'm probably gonna watch The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and I'm also finally gonna check out First Cow.

I was interested in the Billie Eilish doc til I saw it was two hours and twenty minutes long. That seems insanely long to me for a doc about a teenage musician? Curious to hear what you guys think about it.

The Dark and The Wicked is GOOD, but it is dark. It's probably a bit much for some people. I enjoyed it, though, it scared me.

I started watching The Flight Attendant last night! Just the first three episodes, so no spoilers. I'm still not sure how much I like it overall (like as a mystery, I'm not sure how interested I am) but Kaley Cuoco is actually really good in it, and so is Zosia Mamet. I'm definitely gonna stick with it and see where it goes.

I need to watch the rest of The Little Things (lol) tonight before it disappears, and Hotel Rwanda, which I got from my library. For the month of March, I’m only going to watch movies made before the 1970s as a challenge.
