Which iconic riot grrrl lent her vocals to WandaVision? + breaking down the sitcom openings

It's Bikini Kill and Le Tigre frontwoman Kathleen Hanna! Kristen Anderson-Lopez, part of a highly successful songwriting duo with her husband Robert (an EGOT winner - think Avenue Q, Frozen etc.) revealed that Hanna's vocals were blended together with hers to create a Malcolm in the Middle-style 90s/00s sitcom opening for WandaVision.

The WandaVision theme songs are brilliant. I still see some people saying that WV should’ve been a movie and like these theme songs alone were worth making this a tv show. Also the obsession with people hating on the sitcom portions of the episodes makes me realize how much people hate tv? Or see it as lesser to films, which is something I really thought we left behind in the past.

Anyways I was so happy to see them reference Happy Endings in last weeks episode! I love that show so much

WandaVision would be self-negating if it was any other medium--everything about the plot only makes sense from a TV format, like they spell it out for you with Darcy being the audience surrogate who's the most emotionally involved out of anyone with the "show" and theorizes right along with us

I left a similar comment above... it’s like they are missing the point of the show and they just want it to be a marcel movie...just wait for the many other shows coming out or rewatch one of the 20 movies already made

Ikr the whole point of the show is it's not just another Marvel action piece because Wanda doesn't WANT her life to be action-packed fight scenes.

Is WandaVision a limited series? Because I can't see them keeping this up for several seasons, to be honest.

There's only 2 more episodes left

yes it is. They're using it to set up for the Dr. Strange sequel. Wanda will be in that movie, assumedly reeling from the affects we're seeing in WV

I just found a pretty cool video which shows how the tritone motif is employed across the show (and yes this includes the latest episode)

I am so happy they got the Lopez team on this because I've been starving for consistent leitmotifs in my MCU content

Yep! Used to give the series a more eerie/'off' vibe apparently.
