I need to go back through Rih's discography because I randomly stumbled upon a song I really liked, and was like, "OMG, I can't believe I haven't heard this song before, it's so good." (It was Love without Tragedy.)
Definitely. Unapologetic really was her coming into her own, which was first hinted on with "Talk That Talk" imo. It was the end of her compromising with playing the pop game and coming into her vision, which was fully realized with "Anti."
This was the last era of Rihanna where it was cohesive and put together. I feel like after this Rihanna went into her mean girl/party/cocaine phase where she was late af, giving us lazy visuals, people were fryin they hair trying to emulate this look.
Anti is her best album and I was so disappointed by the visuals for it, she could’ve done so much. I mean she barely promoted love on the brain and it was still a huge hit, imagine if she did more. I did like the Work video(s) but that’s about it.
This was such a good era for her. She pulled off that red hair so well.
My favorites on the album are "What's My Name?" (but I have a version without Drake's verse because he's so annoying) and "Complicated," but "Cheers (Drink to That)" and "Man Down" are really good too. That Avril Lavigne sample! So unexpected, so delightful.

The unapologetic cover looks like some high schooler's intro to graphic design project.
