C/P a comment I left elsewhere: There's actually a private social media service for the social media staff of major brands where they coordinate shit like this. Almost 100% of it is planned out in advance (I suspect the Lionsgate one wasn't since it got deleted). It's run by a company called GasPedal. Their website obscures that it's what they do but I got pretty far along in the hiring process a couple years ago and that's how I found out.

i hate wendy's twitter and i hate how people go crazy when they or another business tweets something snarky out. also it's so annoying to see different corporate twitters talking to each other. fair enough to people who find it amusing though, I just never got it.
