Oop. Related to the actual post: I’m not familiar enough with the book to know what major differences there were between it and the Judy Garland movie. What would be in this new adaptation that wasn’t in the iconic movie? Is this intended to be epic???

The books are insane and much more in tone with Return to Oz. There are man eating tiger beasts, hammerheads, just a bunch of body horrors. Lots of stuff they couldn’t adapt in the 1930s.

I'm all for new Oz media so I'll probably watch it. It might be interesting if they step away from the grimdark and/or high fantasy style that a lot of newer Oz stuff has (Tin Man, Emerald City, Oz the Great and Powerful, etc) if only because it would be refreshing and different for a newer live action Oz property.

Also please keep the book version of the Wicked Witch of the West's demise. Dorothy threw the bucket of water because she was pissed off at the Witch for tricking her and getting one of the silver shoes, not to put out a fire. I want petty revenge Dorothy!

I've only read the first book, but it'd be interesting if they go that direction. it's a bit darker than the movie. I totally expect then to go grimdark but who knows? lol
