“Because Kamala, she’s good for America” 🇺🇸 To celebrate our very first woman to become VP, Stephen Schwartz and I present: #Popular: @Kamala Harris edition. Happy one week of vice presidency, VP! 💖
I got to see her in the Spring of 2004 and she signed my Wicked poster. She was super sweet, talked to lots of people and signed a lot of things. She is fucking tiny, and I'm only 5'5".
Idina was not as nice, but she still signed some stuff. Teenage me didn't get it but in retrospect she was probably exhausted.
In 2003, some of the people and shows I loved included Winnie Holzman/My So-Called Life, Idina Menzel/Rent, Kristin Chenoweth/You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and musical theater in general so I was sooooo excited when Wicked had their out of town tryout. Of course, I happened to be broker than broke at the time so I didn’t get to see the show until years later. I was disappointed that I didn’t love it more. I liked it but I didn’t become obsessed with it or anything. But Popular was one of the earworms that I still love to this day.
