Netflix announced today that Bridgerton was streamed by over 82 million households in its first 28 days, almost 20 million over the initial projection of 63 million made 10 days into its run. This overtakes The Witcher's 76 million streams, making it Netflix's biggest original series to date.
A couple of caveats:
1) Netflix's reporting system remains funky, with 'at least 2 minutes of play time' being counted as 1 view.
2) The Witcher's viewership still represented a slightly higher percentage of the Netflix subscriber base during its launch.
Still, the show is clearly a hit, making an appearance in Netflix's daily top 10 in all territories except Japan, as well as spawning memes and trends.
