That Best Director category... the Oscars could never!

I hope Alice Wu doesn't disappear for another 20 years, give us more lesbians.

Never Rarely Sometimes Always was one of my favorite movies last year, glad it's getting some recognition.

I know awards season is pointless and I always end up annoyed because my favs flop but it was a nice distraction from dumb shit and I miss it.

NRSA and First Cow were both astoundingly good, Ma Rainey had it's moments, and I can't wait to see Minari and Nomadland. Haven't seen Promising Young Woman yet, but a little odd it got noms for directing, screenplay and actress but not best first feature?

Hell yes to the Nicole Beharie nom, oh no for the Vanessa Kirby snub.

Watch the Oscars still somehow figure out how to nominate at most one woman for best directing this year.

Super happy that it's such a diverse lineup this year, with so many women! I'm really looking forward to checking out all the films I haven't seen yet, because I've really liked most of the nominees I've already seen.

The last film I saw in theaters was an early screening of Never Rarely Sometimes Always through Film Independent - it was on March 5th, and Eliza Hittman was supposed to do a Q&A, but she decided not to fly to LA because of COVID. In retrospect, good move on her part. And I have never left a movie theater and donated to Planned Parenthood so fast.

Will nicole beharie be nominated for an oscar after being treated like shit on that one show? that would be such a sweet burn.

That would be the best narrative ever, but unfortunately there's like 0% chance of that happening.
