On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly revealed to her guest Jennifer Love Hewitt that people were jerks at "an awards show" just prior to the season one finale of American Idol. (She was definitely referring to the 2002 VMAs, which she attended alongside Justin Guarini and the AI judges

Terrible that celebs felt they were so above all the idol folks just cause it was seen as an easy way to get famous. I think that was the common criticism at the time, that they were taking a shortcut to get in the business. Shitty reasoning to be an asshole to people.

I'd like more scoop on the Avril elbowing incident please.

People have been debating it for years. Was there a "shove"? Or was Avril merely wrenching away from an unwanted hug? Avril's head is blocking Kelly's face in the video, so her elbow could have made brief contact.

Nevertheless, in the Howard Stern interview, Kelly does describe it as an elbow to the face, and said, "Years later she saw me and she said, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t know, people keep saying I elbowed you in the face, and I’m so sorry!’ … She did it, but I don’t know if she felt bad about it, or, like, she didn’t mean to do it or what. But it felt purposeful."

To me it appears that Avril was too short to elbow Kelly in the face. But it's always nice to see John Mayer lose.

but at the same time she was a massive brat so was also prob being awful
