ONTD Original: Unpacking Disney+ HSM: The Musical: The Series Love Triangle Drama
If you're an ONTD millenial (or Gen Z) TikTok user... you probably have seen people posting about the love triangle between Disney+ High School Musical: The Musical: The Series stars Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, and Disney Channel's Girl Meets World star Sabrina Carpenter.
So what sparked this fascination between these three young Disney stars' love life?
Well... on Thursday night Olivia Rodrigo released her debut single "drivers license" which had the young star's name trending on Twitter due to positive reception from fans about her new single. The lyrics of the song has left fans of her Disney+ TV show speculate what may have happened between her and her ex-boyfriend Joshua.
Prior to the release of the song, HSM:TM:TS fans noted that Olivia and Josh's castmates social media activity is incredibly supportive and active on Olivia's social media and non-existent on Josh's. Both Olivia and Josh made announcements of their singles and basically none of their castmates showed any social media support for Josh.

It was clear to fans that the cast was no longer fond of their Gen-Z Troy Bolton which made a lot of them speculate that Olivia and Josh's breakup was messy enough to make their co-stars upset with him.
Olivia posted on her Instagram months before releasing her single a video of her singing "drivers license".
Fans pointed out that Olivia had changed the lyric from BRUNETTE to BLONDE which led fans to believe that this song was definitely about Joshua Barrett because his new girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter fits the description from the second verse of the song:
The second verse reads:
"And you're probably with that blonde girl
Who always made me doubt
She's so much older than me
She's everything I'm insecure about"
JSYK: Olivia is only 17, Joshua is 20, and Sabrina is 21.
The two were spotted on a date in August and posted about each other on social media on Halloween where they both were Sharkboy and Lava Girl.

Josh released a song in July called "Anyone Else" which fans concluded that the hands depicted in the music video are of Sabrina Carpenter because of her manicure matches the manicure Sabrina has posted on social media.
In his song, he sings:
"Cause there’s a million little things I haven’t told ya
It kills me every time he’s with you so
How’m I supposed to think about anything else
How am I to go on keeping this to myself
I am done pretending I want anyone else"
Prior to Sabrina dating Josh, she was seeing actor Griffin Gluck (20) who fans assume Josh mentions in the song.
Griffin threw shade at Sabrina by posting a photo of himself with Olivia's new song playing in the background - specifically at the "And you're probably with that blonde".
So it's easy to jump to conclusions that whatever had brought Sabrina and Josh together may have happened when Sabrina was dating Griffin and Josh was dating Oliva sometime during the Summer of 2020.

As the song goes, Olivia notes in her song that getting her driver's license was something her boyfriend at the time Josh was excited for her to get so she'd be able to drive to his house. The caption notes she was ready to cry through the suburbs which is something she also writes about in her song.
I couldn't find any evidence of stuff I saw where they said Josh taught Olivia how to drive but you know who else couldn't drive and just got their driver's license too?
