I didn’t understand the fervor over the first one, I actually liked the second one more, and I thought the second one sucked. At the end we were all like “that was really bad, wasn’t it?” Like when Kristen Wiig showed up in the cat suit it was clear it was beyond redemption. Who let that Cats reject nonsense out the door?!?!

So what days it mean that the score was so high to begin with? Did they only send screeners to friendly outlets before the release? Reviewers are just sheep and thought it was fine until they saw other people talk about it and were like "oh yeah"?

It is kind of funny. My partner loved it, but I thought it was pretty weak. Some of the writing was just painful. 😬 But I think she really latched onto the nostalgia of it (her favorite part was the invisible jet lol).

a lot of studios send out screeners to like, film twitter critics who hype up the movie but WB made it so obvious that they sent the movie out to outlets that would put out their reviews first and would probably be a little kinder than most. plus a lot of smaller websites and regional newspapers only get their reviews added to the RT once a movie actually opens and since WW84 was so accessible to anyone who had/could get an HBO Max subscription the negative ratings came in faster

I really wanted to like it but there were a lot of issues and it was toooo fucking long. Why was the opening scene so long??

I gave it another go and had to fast forward through half of it. Pretty much all of the Steve parts could have been cut out (Steve being amazed by fireworks and subways... which existed in 1918), especially everything in stereotypical Arabic country Egypt

Even if he hadn’t seen a subway in 1918, I’m sure he would have seen a train before
