You're right. I don't know why he was hired in the first place. Shia has had a reputation for being shitty on set for quite some time so Olivia overlooked his documented racism AND his poor behavior.

But at some point, she may have put her foot down and said his being part of the film was more of a detriment than a value and the producers backed down. It's hard to know unless someone else starts talking.

You deleted your comment the last time you responded to me with this excuse, so I couldn't tell you that. But this is the dumbest, most bullshit excuse I have hears this year.
She was fine with his casting because she's complicit. The end.

Two, this is not an excuse, it's a reason. Lots of directors cast actors according to type. That's why typecasting exists. It's a fact, not an excuse. There is no excusing the asshole that Shia is. It's lazy to cast an asshole to play an asshole, but sometimes directors do it.
Since you don't know her or the producers, you're not qualified to exclaim that's she's complicit as if you have any real knowledge of the situation of his casting. Period. And I'm not even a fan of hers, I've never seen Booksmart and dgaf what she does, you're just reaching.

To one of my comments, you wrote:
He was fired. He has no upcoming projects, so what is the scheduling conflict?
Olivia hired him to play an a-hole in her movie. It would hardly have been a stretch. I think she may have cast him precisely because she was aware that he could execute the role with little effort. She bit off more than she could chew, which she found out when she directed him in that music video. And rather than saddle herself with 10 weeks of torture by working with him, she fired his ass.I wanted to answer but for some reason, I couldn't and it disappeared from the post ( ... )

2. It doesn't prove what you think it does. All I've said is exactly what I said in this post, which was he's always been an asshole, she may have cast him because he was an asshole, and none of that is an "excuse." It's a reason.
This is not praising her for firing him now, it's simply stating the obvious, which you personally seem to have a hard time dealing with.
