This show was barely worth a first go around.

Also, Lucy Hale probably wants to produce it so she doesn’t have to do any more shitty Hallmark-esque movies to make some $$$, rather than her being so ~protective of it.

How are they getting so many chances with spinoffs? Didn't the original get mixed reviews, at best. I'm genuinely confused at all this effort.

The views were good at first for a ABC family show that was kept tame until ABC Family became Freeform and they got a bit more violent. The views were especially good for first, midseason hiatus, comeback episodes, and finale episodes. But they dipped dramatically for the last two seasons. You can see the stats here for the seasons and here for each episode.

I have a feeling they are hoping to recreate what they had at first but on a much more adult level with HBO. Hopefully it will be in horror or creepiness adult and not in sexual activity adult.

The PLL brand itself is insane. It does extremely well overseas and online. It's a lot bigger than most people realize.

What's dumb is they've yet to understand that it's the cast that sold the original. The show already has two failed spinoffs because both didn't feature the original Liars. It's really simple, but even imaginary $$ is better than brains I guess.
