Catradora lliterally makes me sick. Catra reminds me way too much of a horribly abusive friend. I always have to tab out when watching the finale because of that kiss.

i HATE catradora so much. while i appreciate the show normalizing same sex relationships, i hate that catra was abusive and gaslighting adora for 5 seasons, but catra realized that she did all abuse because she was in love with adora, so all the abuse she did was ok.

that ending kinda tainted the show for me.

By the end I came to like Catra. Not love, but like, yes. Still wish she was really held accountable more than she was, idk, man. Glimmer lost her mother because of her, but she gets to be part of the best friend squad? I don't like that one bit, and I hate that I feel I can't be open about that stuff.

If they had given Catra another season to actually work on redemption, I could have possibly been okay with the ship, but it kind of came out of nowhere, especially after the four seasons before where, like you said, she was literally trying to kill Adora and her friends. I understand it's fiction, but it sets a VERY dangerous precedence that it's okay to fall in love with your abuser as long as your abuser says they're sorry. And using Catra's trauma as an excuse for her abhorrent behavior is also incredibly dangerous. I don't understand how they fucked up so badly with that when the show had such positive same sex couples.

And even outside of trying to KILL her and her friends, we see other abusive behavior from her, too. Even when they were children.

She attacked Lonnie because she and Adora were friends. When Adora suggested she apologize, she attacked Adora as well. She blames Adora for everything, says Adora abandoned her, when in reality, Adora gave her multiple chances to join her.

Exactly. It seems people forget that she was always mean even as a kid. I personally think Catra was insanely jealous that Adora excelled at everything she did, including be friends with people, and she took that out on not just Adora but the other kids they were raised/trained with. So when Adora became She-Ra, Catra just saw her as something else that Catra would never become. She had almost zero growth except in S5 and that was just barely, yet we're to believe her and Adora were end game. Again, how they fucked that up I'll never know.
