I am so frustrated that they don’t test people here in Germany. I was sick last week and my throat is still sore and I had to exaggerate my symptoms and had to lie saying that my 65+ old parents with asthma live in my house to finally get tested, otherwise they literally just tell you to stay home for a week if you feel sick and if it goes away then you „probably don’t have it“. I always wonder how other countries can just test anyone and here we have no capacity. Clearly they must have been asleep all summer
Here in Finland everyone who has symptoms can get tested for free. and for peoople in the health care industry they will express your results so you will know if you have it in less than a day.
We also have an app that the goverment recommends that uses bluetooth to track who you've been close to (in busses etc) and when a user gets covid they will put it in the system and it warns everyone that they may have been exposed. the app is anonymous so you don't get to know who you encountered that had corona.
That’s wild. Here in Los Angeles testing is widely available and free, no symptoms necessary. Of course it’s a double edged sword because people use a negative test as a free pass to go out and party, or they don’t know how to test properly and go out and party and get a test the next day and think they are free and clear. I work at a testing site and I fear for the days before and after Thanksgiving.
