Signed up for a free trial of Peacock Premium to watch some of the Hitchcock movies that they have - last night, we watched Rope for the first time. I didn't know anything about it beforehand, but it was pretty obvious what was gonna happen from the get-go and yet I was still captivated. [Spoiler (click to open)]The sequence where the housekeeper starts briskly clearing all of the food and plates and candlesticks off of the chest in order to put the books back had my heart racing, The super-long takes were great for building suspense, and the homoerotic tension between the murderers and their old headmaster surprised me considering the time period. Not my favorite Hitchcock, but I really enjoyed it.
If you haven't watched The Queen's Gambit on Netflix, I'd highly recommend - we finished that earlier this week and it was ( ... )
