i think it was like the top ten of season 1 reunited virtually earlier this year and they were chatting. it was really cool. they even asked about her son who she brought to the audition. :(

She was so funny and how she spoke of the letter Stevie Nicks wrote to her after her performance of "Edge of Seventeen" was so sweet.

This was actually shocking to me, I remember really rooting for her during season 1 b/c she was so clearly the underdog and I don't think anybody expected her to get so far :( And brain aneurysms/strokes scare the fuck out of me.

What awful news. Nikki had a lot of hardship in her life. I liked her a lot on American Idol and was often annoyed by how rude the judges were to her. She adored her son. My heart really goes out to him.
