Blown away by news of local businesses stepping up to fill the voucher scheme deficit during the October half term. Selflessness, kindness, togetherness, this is the England I know 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

go on marcus! it's so sad that he has to do this in the first place, but it's great how he's not letting the issue drop. have any of the other english players been re-tweeting him, or supporting his efforts or anything?

When he got the MBE he received a ton of congrats within England and internationally from his teammates, fellow players, managers and other clubs, both on social media and in tv media. Other players have retweeted him and supported him in their media appearances, as have some managers. I also read that some clubs are donating meals. I was going to include some tweets in the post, but it was getting too long and it's hard to keep up with it all.

He’s amazing and such an inspiration. This government are disgusting, taking literal food from children’s mouths. I pay my taxes and would rather it went to those affected by poverty instead of painting the fucking palace.

I went out this afternoon and got a full months food shop for a 4 person family and gave to my local food bank. Another instance this year of the government not allocating to taxes where they should go and instead the people have to pay on top to causes they care about i.e. the money raised for the NHS recently.

The UK media who are praising Rashford and all these small businesses are the exact same media who acted like all of Corbyn's policies (stuff like free school meals) were ridiculous and too costly. The media in the UK is the absolute pitts - I genuinely believe it's worse here than it is in the US

Somebody on Twitter described this today as Britain's odd mix of micro-kindness and macro-cruelty. Which is probably the best description I've ever heard of of our national psyche when it comes to helping people in need.

For sure, so many people here think tory cruelty is necessary because it 'emboldens' the kindness we've been seeing today. It's terrible!
