Do you ever watch a film "based on true events" and spend the next 2 hours looking for everything about them on the Internet ? Yeah, me too ! So I thought "why not share with the world what I'm obsessed about?".
My grandmother loves Anne Perry's books, and my mom is so horrified by it. She always refuses to buy them for presents etc. Which, tbh, can't fully blame her.
I started watching this film once, but had to stop. I actually do not remember the reason, so maybe I will give it another try. I really do not like Kate Winslet, though.
I had a really intense relationship like that with a girl. We were much younger, however, with peak "detachment from reality" coming at around 10 yo.
Finally, how scary and bizarre that this is how they chose to kill.
This case has always fascinated me, since seeing the movie as a teen. I read that they shot the murder scene at the actual site of the murder. Or tried to. It was so eerie and sinister there, they moved to a different spot in the woods.
I saw some weird interview with Anne Perry, conducted in a car. She spoke briefly about the murder, claiming she only participated because Pauline threatened to kill herself otherwise. But people who have read the latest book about the case believe that Juliet was the mastermind.
I did think it was interesting that we went from Juliet'parent moving to needing to kill Pauline's? I dont have very much contact though.
I had picked up a Perry book once randomly and then after I read it looked up the author as realized the background. Has creeped me out reading anything - esp murder mysteries! - since.
Juliet seemed more the type to be the brain behind it but I think Pauline was the one who wanted to kill her mother with her own hand, she resented her so badly. You have to be really angry to do that though. I don’t know how many times they had to hit her but must have been a lot.
