I normally prefer when an original cast comes back and re-does their performance for film. I think all shows should be filmed like Hamilton with their original casts, then when the show closes, they release the professionally filmed version with the original cast.

My favorite cast to film has to be when they grabbed almost the entire cast of 1776. Perfection.

THE WORST adaptation is a tie between CATS and Phantom. Both of them are abominations and just honestly should be buried forever.

I totally agree with this. There's so many people that simply have no access to good professional live theater and having some way of releasing those productions so that all can enjoy would be so wonderful.

I completely agree. Seeing Newsies in movie theatres and then on Disney+ was such a treat. Never would've been able to see the musical otherwise.

I saw Rent in theaters and like 3 groups of people walked out in the first 10 minutes. IDK if they didn't realize it was a musical or didn't know what it was about or what

Damn when was this? Maybe the casting at the time was controversial?

It was the movie, sorry my comment was unclear. I assumed they either didn't know it was a musical or didn't know it dealt with HIV/AIDS.

Rent benefited from having 80% of the original cast for the movie.

The 2007 version of Hairspray is such a great movie. It’s one of my go to movies whenever I feel sad or sick or something
