I love watching videos of Madonna from the 80s. She’s not musically talented but she was at the right place at the right time. And not a lot of singers relied on gimmicks/stunts to make it big back then so she was def one of the pioneers of that kind of stardom.

Yeah, she's not the most naturally gifted singer but to say she's not musically talented?

I used to watch this every Saturday morning as a kid growing up in the eighties. I would look forward to it. There was also Solid Gold, which I think was also on Saturday? It feels like there were a lot more opportunities to be exposed to music in the past. I feel like I have to make an effort nowadays to know of a new artist and watch them perform live.

OMG, I loved Solid Gold. The dancers. Andy Gibb. The acts. My mom used to babysit three brothers and the eldest and I would hide under a blanket peeking out when Grace Jones would appear on the show; we called her "The Squareheaded Lady" and we were terrified and fascinated by her.

Now that I'm thinking about him, I think he grew up to be gay, lol.
