The 74th annual ceremony honors a shortened Broadway season. The February 19 eligibility cut-off meant 18 total productions were in the running for this year’s awards. You can see the full list of nominations at the source.

I personally think this is a mess and they should have just rolled all the eligible options into the next Tony Awards because some of these options have no right winning.

Also I hate jukebox musicals.

(If West Side Story had opened a week earlier it would have won some stuff by default, too lmao. But Ivo Van Hove is so fucking pretentious.)

Some of these nominations are hilarious. The categories for plays are competitive enough to be justified, but musicals should have just awarded Danny Burstein and Adrienne Warren and called it a day.
