he's like rian johnson for me - one thing he does is great and another is complete garbage. even last year he followed up watchmen with the hunt

I remember how hated he was after LOST lmao Then he redeemed himself with The Leftovers and Watchmen.

My question to Lindelof would be how many times does he have to tug himself off to his own writing before he can go to sleep at night

these guys and the guys from Battlestar Galactica will always be at the top of my shit list because there's nothing i hate more than "there's a plan" being repeated over and over again but by the time the show ends, you realize that they had no plan, there was never a plan. they were just jerking themselves off to their presumed future brilliance until they got to the final seasons and realized they had to pull something out of their asses.

My theory is that the purgatory theory was correct, and people guessed it and they didn't want to seem ~predictable so they kept digging themselves into writing holes.

What's also irritating is saying there's plan for years, then pulling a 180 and saying no no, it was all about the CHARACTERS. So insulting to the audience.

If I had not watched it live and had to deal with that, I think it's probably a good show to watch for the first time and binge. Having lived through it, I absolutely hate it.

There were MANY flaws in the last few seasons but I genuinely enjoy the series finale. I think it is because I cared more about the characters and less about the mystery stuff I dunno

Did you watch it live while it aired?

I feel like people that didn't watch it live and caught up towards the end or after it aired feel this way. Watching it live week after week, the mystery was important and kept you watching in anticipation. And they built it up so much.

Yes, I watched it live since s1 lol. I get why others felt differently, but I just enjoyed characters I loved be happy for once. I was also a Charlie stan so maybe it did not take much to please me haha

You're a much stronger person than me! I get that though.

I did enjoy the actual last episode when I first watched it, and thought it was beautiful and teared up. But it also just didn't make sense and felt like such a cop out. I would agree there are a lot of really great character moments on the show but in retrospect it all just adds up to nothing? IDK. It felt hollow and like those were just to distract from the fact that there was like no real coherent, overarching story.

jack was damon's self-insert lol. they realised around season 3 that jack was actually awful and he gets a little better after he hits rock bottom

Every time I rewatch Lost I hate Jack more. His hero complex is so annoying.
