Amblin Television and HBO Max got a deal to create a tv show based on Akira Kurosawa's "Rashomon"
It won't be an adaptation of the original film, but it will use the key ploy points and the narrative techinique to explore the themes of truth and subjective point of view, in a modern setting.
Each episode of the series will focus on the perceived truth of a specific character as they tell the events of the murder from their unique, self-serving perspective. Casting, episode count and a release date are unknown.
The series will be written by Oscar nominees Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips”) and Virgil Williams (“Mudbound”). Amblin Partners’ co-presidents of television Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will executive-produce alongside with Mark Canton, Leigh Ann Burton, and David Hopwood.
For clarification: HBO Max is the Warner Bros streaming service, it's not the same as the premium cable Channel HBO.
