and before you wonder, no, Harry can't vote himself because he is not an US citizen

Wonder if he'd ever apply for US citizenship. Probably not. My dad has lived in the US since 1980 with a green card and just like... doesn't care enough to go through the citizenship process??? Idk. But yeah he's not a citizen despite living here for decades.

Anyway, I'm getting v anxious about the election and have decided to channel my anxious energy into doing Postcards to Voters. I ordered like 120 postcards and I can't wait for them to arrive so I can start filling them out and mailing them off! (lmao alsoooooooooo considering using a fake name when signing them because the name 'Karen' probably isn't going to encourage people to vote??? IDK.)

Didn't the Titles of Nobility Amendment fail to ratify? And doesn't the Foreign Emoluments Clause only bar members of the federal government from having titles?

And there's the IRS. U.S. taxes are forever (though of course Harry has the resources to hide his money.)

It's also the reason why I believe Harry and Meghan have a prenup. If Harry's money is also Meghan's money, then the IRS will get extra nosy. And ooh boy, baby Archie...

ah yes, the hereditary royal who was... *checks smudged writing on hands* not elected.

(i'm being facetious, dw, i know he can be from the royal family and still tell people to vote in elections as an ambassador kind of role)

What is Harry's path to U.S. citizenship? I don't think the Sussexes should have their titles stripped away, but it is an interesting choice that they insist on them despite their claims of wanting to be "Just Harry and Meghan".

I can't get mad at any Get Out the Vote messaging, but I don't care for this racist, privleged colonizer trying to tell anyone to do anything. The inspirational, philanthropist cosplay is particularly unconvincing from him.

I wonder if Meghan will be content with trying to be an influencer and the Netflix deal, or if she'll eventually lean into Kim Kardashian narcissism of trying to legit be involved in politics.

I would assume Harry's path to citizenship is the same as everyone's? Idk. I should watch more 90 Day Fiance to find out the details of how it works.

I doubt he'll ever go for it though because iirc from when my uncle became a citizen, the US does not recognize dual citizenships, so when you become a US citizen you have to renounce your previous citizenships?

It depends on what country you're originally from. You can be a US/UK dual citizen, but India for example doesn't allow you to be a dual citizen anywhere else.

I am US/UK dual citizen, but I think I can only do that because I was US citizen first? But like going the other way doesn't work because the US doesn't recognize dual citzenships? I think?

The dog walking across the yard behind them stole the show.

My mom is royal historian so naturally I avoided all royal things growing up as a mild form of rebellion. I really didn't pay attention to them until Meghan joined the fam. Glad she got out.

I enjoy the British press shitting themselves over this.

Harry and Meghan: Voting is important, hate speech and misinformation is bad.
The British press: ZOMG THIS GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING THE ROYALS STAND FOR THEY CROSSED A LINE DON'T ALLOW THEM OR THEIR SPAWN TO EVER ENTER ENGLAND AGAIN!!!

ah yes, "a source close to the royals says that [the queen/prince charles/whoever] is HEARTBROKEN"

never mind that they never have to name these sources...

Buckingham Palace has said it won’t comment on the Duke of Sussex’s remarks about voting: “We would not comment. The Duke is not a working member of the Royal Family and any comments he makes are made in a personal capacity.”

that's good. my reply was more about how the mail and other rags like to pretend they have some secret sources close to the royal family who have no accountability but can message their correspondents any time of day to provide fodder for the news cycle about some current thing (i.e., what the family think about meghan, why the queen is doing *this* or *that*, blah blah blah). you would've thought the royal family would make their staff sign an NDA at the very least, lol.
