Right? Like she’s actively trying to destroy whatever legacy she has. And it’s so galling, because the ultimate message of HP was love.

No, it was that about defeating a dude who was born so evil that no amount of nurture could have fixed him. There is a fair amount of biological determinism in HP - the children in Slytherin being children of other Slytherins (and then being the only House who don't fight against Voldemort), Harry being nurtured in an extremely abusive household and still being a incredibly well-adjusted indivdual... but yeah, Voldemort's backstory being basically Damien from the Omen because it isn't actually the choices that make us but whether you are a product of rape or love.... was a preview.

If it helps, I've read a headcanon where even though all the Slytherins were sent to the dungeons during the fight, the good ones protected as many students as they could since they had access to both the kitchen for food and the lake if they needed to escape.

I guess Rowling tried with Slughorn, but it's not good enough. You can be manipulative and ambitious but you can still choose to use those qualities for good and not primarily because it's a investment that you can cash out in the future. She showed her colours "outing" Dumbledore like that the first year she nothing HP going on, all or press and brownie points. It's tacky as hell and she's not even abiding by this info in Fantastic Beasts.

she deserves a spot in the hottest corner of hell. also, this plot sucked when brian de palma wrote it in the 80s.

this woman needs to be fucking stopped. i am so glad i never bought into harry potter fandom, and i feel bad for those who did only to discover what an asshole the writer is.

I'm rather comfortable with "death of the author". Too many people are part of and created the whole HP universe (including fanworks) to just write it off because of her. But I also never idolised her for being the author to begin with, so now I just roll my eyes and pretend she doesn't exist.
