I started to watch s1 the other day and its honestly way better than what I expected.

I usually find these "cynical look at superheroes" lazy and derivitative, but theres actually pretty good character work till now.

Chace Crawford is terrible though

It's edgy, very edgy, like has lots and lots of gore, but overall is entertaining and I think it's good, mostly good acting, interesting plot, don't expect Breaking Bad or Succession but it's a good show .

You can say that the show is an allegory for showbiz, fame, and the media in the same way that Buffy the Vampire Slayer (seasons 1-3) is an allegory for high school. If you like the lore, gore, politics, and absurdist humor of shows like Preacher or True Blood, then this is the show for you. The main characters are all antiheroes (ha!) while the villains are Superheroes + late stage capitalism.
