A few days ago it was informed that Bartomeu said he will resign if Messi publicly announced he will stay in the club, later , according to the news, Messi said that Bartomeu resigning wasn't enough for him to stay.

Today La Liga released a statement saying that Messi's contract is still valid and any team interested in buying him has to pay his €700 million release clause.

Messi thinks the season finished in August, so he can use the clause that frees him from the club before the end of the month. FCB would mention that the contract talks about end of June for Messi to use the clause, so it has expired

This however can be fought in court because the season ends in August so allegedly Messi could leave the club whenever he wants, that's why both parties want to negotiate. According to Mundo Deportivo, Bartomeu and Jorge Messi (Lionel Messi's father) will have a reunion so they can talk, Bartomeu and the board want Messi to stay and are doing everything they can to achieve that but in the worst case escenario they want to settle with enough money so the club can buy new players.
