It's 2009 and you've just bought an American Apparel deep V-neck because they're all the rage. Hopefully you have enough money left to go to Coachella! I hear Jared Leto and his crew will be there.

I still love Deceptacon! Also, Ready For the Floor still shows up pretty often in my Spotify Daily Mixes.

I clearly didn't have an indie hipster dance phase because I've never heard of any of these songs

i owe P4K and Stereogum for me discovering The Knife, Arcade Fire, and Sufjan. Remember when Stereogum used to have mp3 download links?

Also a good idea for an original are bands or artists who got attention because they were featured on iTunes free singles or Apple iPod commercials. Chairlift, Feist were I got to know them because of those.

omg the download links were everything because by then, Myspace Music had cracked down/was over

Calvin Harris' "Acceptable in the 80s" was in an iPod commercial, so I think that really exposed him to the masses.

alllll of those sites had download links; i miss it. much of my music during high school and early college (pre-spotify's rise) was pulled from blogs, last.fm, and stereogum.

So much of my music I listened to at the time was downloaded from Blalocks Indie Rock Playlist!
