and obviously he was fine with Hughes using it because they recorded a new version for the movie lmao.
plus, hughes didn't misinterpret anything. they used the title and the song for the movie after molly ringwald couldn't stop talking about the band. the film wasn't inspired by the song at all.

And I think the entire premise should have been a red flag, ya know. Once you hear their ages, it should have been a wrap.

The posts for the film here were always a mixed bag, even though the ppl that are normally defensive abt their 3000 yr old dad and 40 yr old mom are normally the exception.
and then on top of it, hammer is so huge and looks wayyy older than 24. It all just makes me sad bc I know we don't get aesthetically charming films abt our love, but damn.
