Holy shit, I was young when they were a thing and had no idea. Looking at pictures now it’s obvious that he’s a lot older

I knew because she's a year older than me and I was weirded out even then lol. Same with Keira Knightley (who's a few years older) and I remember some caption for Bend It Like Beckham saying she was "the sexiest tomboy" and being like omg these creepy adults.

That girl in Everything Sucks was 13 while filming, and her love interest was 20.

I came here to say this. I remember people being really upset about this. I don't get shows where the main cast is all super young, but then one character is 20 or older.

And Sydney looks her age, so it was really weird to see.

Bre Blair was 14 in the BabySitters Club movie and the man she kissed was 24.

On a different angle I hate an actress is older than the male actor playing her love intrest and they change the ages of the characters so the man is older than the woman. Like it’s ok to have women date younger men!

wtf & u wonder why people have this fucked up view what women are supposed to look like, if they happen to be the same age as the lead for once

Whenever celebrity couples are around the same age, I feel like people immediately start screaming that the woman is ageing like garbage. Nah, you're just not used to seeing that actor with a woman his own age.

IDK if people are just duped by filters and fillers but it's like people do not get aging, they seem to think it doesn't show until 50 or something. I've noticed people definitely don't know what 30 somethings should look like.

There's a weird thing with ageing onscreen, too, because most teens are played by 20-somethings, and then most 20-somethings are played by older-looking 20-somethings, and then there's just a weird drift of time where 30, 40 and 50 are treated as a rough "grey area" of "grown adult of some kind". Especially when a grown adult couple is a 32 year old woman and a 54 year old man.

But the teen one is big, because even I get into the habit of thinking a 16 year old looks fairly grown-up until I see a real one in the wild and think, "No this is a child".
