The show is so much less crude/pointlessly offensive than the comic, which is a good thing, because it felt like an interesting premise but whenever the comic creator ran out of ideas on how to make something genuinely interesting, his solution was to go for shock value, gore and sexual assault, like an edgy 16 year-olds idea of what a comic making fun of superheroes would look like. Hope the show avoids those pitfalls.
YES, I tried to read the graphic novel, and it was so disgusting. Just senseless and horrific violence against women. It's such a lazy way to depict a "bleak" universe.
Same, I found it online and normally I like to finish reading/watching whatever I start even if it's crap, but I just hated it so much after a few issues that I just went "fuck this shit, I'm out". It's like some early-2000s edgelord concocted the most gory, intentionally offensive and sexually violent story he could come up with... and the art style is so damn ugly, it's got almost zero redeeming qualities.
The racism and homophobia in the comic was shocking after watching this show. Especially when they tried to justify using homophobic slurs because apparently words don't mean things.
