More details about Naya Rivera's tragic drowning revealed by Ventura County Sheriff dept.
Ventura County Sheriff's department just held a press conference. The revealed the following information about Naya Rivera's drowning and death. Her drowning was a result of being caught by a particularly strong current in the lake on Wednesday.
The @VENTURASHERIFF just said the body found this morning at Lake Piru is #NayaRivera. A positive identification will be made thru dental records when an autopsy is performed at medical examiner’s office later today, though police ID’d Naya from the initial examination today.

Police say #NayaRivera was swimming with her son in the lake, she boosted him onto the boat and when he looked back, he saw her disappear under the surface of the water. She was not wearing a life vest & the boat was not anchored, so police believe the boat could’ve drifted away.

Police say #NayaRivera made sure to “muster enough energy” to get her son back on the boat. In other words, Naya saved her son’s life, but could not save her own.
