The Old Guard is a Netflix original movie directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and written by comic book writer Greg Rucka. It follows a group of immortal mercenaries on a revenge mission after they're betrayed and their identities are at risk of being exposed.

It does seem much more fitting as a miniseries from what I've read and heard, and I can't wait to watch it.

Read Greg Rucka's comics. He's excellent. I'm going to be biased and suggest his Lois Lane series that just ended.

This movie was a lot of fun, the whole cast was great.

I need a sequel asap

I liked it! But it did kinda feel like a 2 hour pilot, you know? Like it just got started when it ended lol I would have loved a miniseries.

Though, gotta be honest, my tolerance for gun violence is getting low :/

But the characters were great. Kiki Layne was perfect as Nile. Everyone was really well cast and just believable in their roles.

I hope they don't waste time greenlighting a sequel.

Kind of OT but have you watched train to busan? It's a south korean zombie film, and the protagonists didn't use guns at all. Guns were used maybe once in the entire film, by soldiers who were promptly overwhelmed and killed, it gives you perspective on how guns are such a common place in American media and to some extent other western medias, even when not needed at all.

I have heard of it but haven't seen it because zombies aren't really my genre lol

But that's really interesting and I have thought about giving it a try.

I would love more of this world
I like the characters but I think a series would habe worked better

There was a lot of build up with no pay-off.
Hopefully there is a sequel to even all that out.
