jlo white washed selena in her biopic so zoe saldana as Nina Simone could run. There fixed it for you.

This was poignant. The level of anger and hurt she felt as she was retelling the story of the woman changing her tune only when she found out she was famous hit particularly hard. I wouldn’t call this story a micro aggression but these stories that may seem like smaller incidents to others because they’re non-violent or short-lasting are indelible to those that experience them and truly are traumatizing for that reason. And they’re so damn commonplace.

Every black person has a fount of these stories to pull from. It’s especially relevant in these times to not casually ask, implicitly or explicitly, for us to share these stories. It’s emotionally burdensome to tell and relive. Also, really appreciate the emotional work and toll it takes to share these stories.

Edited for typos/grammar

The thing about microaggression is that they occur at the micro level in terms of personal interactions instead of a macro or structural level. They're extremely devastating.

Yep. During #shutdownSTEM students in my program organized an entire day of discussions (over Zoom of course) and I was in a group with someone, a white man, from London who said he was shocked by the racism in America and the segregation of people in the surrounding neighborhoods when we were discussing racial disparities wrt housing. I was like... lol what? That was something I picked up on when I was in London for 2 days.

According to a recent Reddit post, racism in the UK only exists outside of London, and London is a perfectly integrated (E)Utopia. I had to close it out because it was making me so mad.

that was a rage inducing story I was getting upset at how upset she was getting. I wish she’d name and shame them.

I really like her and her music. she seems like a sweet person and she has hashimotos which I have too. thyroid problems are such bullshit
