Is How I Met Your Mother’s Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) the good guy he claims to be? Or is his romantic journey more self indulgent and sometimes sinister than he claims it is? What if he's the bad guy? In this video we take an honest look at Ted Mosby.

Does anyone think he is NOT the villain? Even when the show was in its run, everyone hated Ted.

But really, they’re all awful. It’s like Seinfeld except the characters don’t realise they’re awful. The show has aged really badly as a result and is virtually unwatchable these days.

The only time I tolerated him was when he was a professor (that first day lol) and when they did the college flashbacks, because they didn't hide the fact that he was this pretentious dweeb and it made it fun to watch. But yeah other than that... ugh.

Yeah when they leaned in to his pretentiousness it made it better somehow. Like that one where he was at the party with Arianna Huffington and realized what a douche he was

He was never a good guy, he was looking for a dream woman he could save, not a woman to be with. It's why I still don't understand how he ended up with Robin considering he didn't like how independent she was and that she didn't need him.

Also, just being with a woman bc she can give you kids and then get together with the person you actually love after she dies is pretty awful. lol

I'm still amazed they forced that ending. I don't know anyone that was happy with that ending and I've never seen another finale that universally hated by fans.

I loved the final season of GOT, and I actually know a lot of people IRL (and even some online--gasp!) who loved it too. It wasn't perfect, there should have been at least one more episode, but yeah, I did love it.

He's such a tool. I wish the writers had the balls to show him that his dream girl was ridiculous and his wife was an average girl and brought him down from the clouds. But no they fed in to the manic dream pixie nonsense.

Also he's a gross dad for telling his kids about his exploits.

Also Barney should be in prison

Also still annoyed they ruined Marshall by him slut shaming Robin.

Live long Robin Sparkles tho. Until they made it creepy.

Re: Marshall slut-shaming Robin. Wasn't that The Naked Man ep lol? Doesn't he later himself fall for the thing he claims Robin was shallow for doing, too? It always cracked me up when he tries to slut-shame her because it's likely just insecurity from the fact that he and Lily don't have stories like that to tell.

Oh no, there's no excuse. It's Marshall being an insecure misogynist. My point was just that I thought it was reasonable they had Marshall be like that vs the other characters considering he's the die-hard monogamist of the group.

And to kind of answer the OP question, Vince Gilligan & co. were adamant about Walter White being awful and imo he was a straight-up villain in Breaking Bad, but I can't at dudes who misinterpreted it and hailed him as a[n anti]hero.

And SKYLAR is the one they hate.

On the bright side it's created the perfect litmus test for trash men.

Do you think Skylar was a bitch. Yes? Okay bye forever.

Some men will continue to learn the wrong lesson from examples of toxic masculinity in film and TV. Also see Tyler Durden from Fight Club.
