I really did. I thought 1984 was fun and it camped it up. I accepted how Ryan Murphy’s shows go so I take it for what it is. Sure, there’s some disconnect and messiness but I always enjoy each season. I might even watch Freak Show again because it was interesting but Cult was just awful. It was way too soon for that type of TV.
I haven't watched 84 yet. I watched the first 2-3 eps as it aired and idk, I lost interest. Usually I enjoy it, but like you, Freakshow and Cult were the two I just couldn't get into. Freakshow had a brutality and rapey thing that I couldn't get past it. It just, to me, had such a different vibe and I wasn't feeling it. I know there has been gore and assault in other seasons, but i just couldn't with that one. And like you, Cult was way too goddamn soon.
there were places that had me going huh? because it was so all over the place in terms of things not related to the current political landscape, but every time they brought it back around to current politics and invoking the dark lord's name, it turned my stomach so bad that I know the gist of the season, I saw about half of it. I saw the finale. I'm good. I have no desire to watch that one again.
I weirdly like the shows. I'm not going to act like some do, that I purely hate watch. no, I like dumb horror shit. Asylum is still my favorite season.
I subjected myself to "Hollywood" while doing my laundry yesterday. It's absolutely ridiculous and not in a good way. Awful and offensive. Don't watch. A waste of a talented cast (except for Laura Harrier, who is very pretty but can't act).
it felt like such an insult to what rock hudson actually had to go through in his life. revisionist history works well in some ways (i'll give Tarantino some props for that at least) but here it was just cringy

Roanoke IMO is the scariest season, and the closest to true horror the series gets.

I usually stay away from Murphy's shows but for once I thought "eh why not?". Know I remember why not.
