IDK, I watched season one through the mom's episode and I gave up. So much of storytelling really pushes the boundaries of believability with respect to the romantic options available to Ramy, like they don't have many (or any) women in the writer's room. Neither he nor his sister really interrogate how they idealize white people as dating options. Hmmm...

YES. It is just never questioned that white people are considered the most desirable dating options. While that is a real phenomenon in some POC circles, if you're storytelling, maybe interrogate that? People don't like all the sex scenes in Insecure, but Issa Rae said what we're not gonna do is act like dark-skin Black women AREN'T sexually desirable and attractive dating options.
