Has been stuck in my head the entire time this show was on the air! Such a bop.

My husband and I haven't made it through episode eight because it's so fucking boring.

The women are the best part of the show and the only one who gets consistent screen time is Cynthia, who is excellent. This show has really interesting side characters (Yunis especially, Jeannie, Glory, Alec especially) but I HATE the main character detective, hate King adaptations in general, and this show just SLOGS. It's so grim and slow. I don't know what I'm missing.

The book is a pretty quick read but the show did a lot of padding to get a full season out of it.

I really loved the first episode and was excited for it, but then yeah after that I found myself getting more and more bored until I had to switch off, it became a real slog. I think I would have actually preferred it as a straight detective show without any of the Sci Fi stuff quite honestly

They nailed it with casting tbh. I loved Mare Winningham and I know it was based on a book but I wish she and Ben's roles had been reversed and she'd been the cop, even though I love Ben.

She was so good in it - it was disappointing she got sidelined the last few episodes.

To be honest if you didn't like the book the show will probably be torture. It's improved on a few parts (the ending is more satisfying) but it feels very slow in comparison.

I was so so on the book but I loved the series - I thought it really improved on the story. I seem to be the minority though as most ONTDers seem to have either hated the show or found it boring.

Why is he not a bigger star???

Watching this made me want to watch all his other stuff again - particularly Red Riding and Pride. Maybe if we go into a pandemic lockdown I’ll have a Paddyathon.
