actually great advice at the end.. I live in NYC and aren't like stockpiling food but I'm being way more aware of washing my hands throughout the day, especially after riding the subway, etc.

Is it common for new yorkers to hold the poles on the subway with their bare hands? Cuz I was amazed I kept seeing people doing that while I was trying to use my jacket sleeve or gloves last time I was there. 😬

I do it all the time haha. I HATE the people that lean on the poles with their backs when the train is crowded - 5-10 people can hold that pole!

Yeah it's common but gross. As a germaphobe, I never touch the poles and have developed good balance from riding the trains that way. of course, i'm not sure how helpful that actually is in this case, since the packed nature of the train cars means you'll prob get sick anyway

I don’t like him since he got his American citizenship. Like the way he spoke about it was like... as if he didn’t have another western citizenship to fall back on. And everyone who isn’t born in the US and comes from a western country and gets the US citizenship side eye because you don’t really need it and it perpetuates the myth it is the most desirable one even if you come from other developed countries and hardcore jingoistic folks use it as an excuse to prop up the US’s value in the world. I spoke about this before and Ontd was upset about this but I feel oddly personal about this so here’s my hot take

i would imagine doing things is just a lot easier if you naturalize here, especially if you're married. but what do i know!

The second confirmed NYC case works in my building and the building is offering pumps of Purell to people when they walk in, omg it's so ratchet

ALSO, all the women, men of color, and senior citizens (our bosses) came in today while all the young white bros stayed home??? LOL WTF WAS THAT AN OPTION SMH, like our office is small, so that's like half our associates right there. if anyone should stay home, it should just be our boomer bosses who will prob get very sick if they do get it

That's good, that means your coworkers are reasonable people! I mean, we definitely should try to protect vulnerable populations but it's so bonkers to see completely healthy, young people being so paranoid. I actually like my bro coworkers, but talk about white privilege smh
