My puppy loves my cat so much and she hates his ass. We keep her in a gated off area leading upstairs because he's huge and we're not sure of his intentions but he cries and barks whenever he sees her and tries to get under the gate.
She's about 5 and set in her ways like an old lady but recently I had my dog in my lap and she came to lay on top of him. It took about a year before she was fully okay with him and not swatting at him when he came near.
One of the things I did that helped with it a lot was to pet them both and teach the pup to "stay" so he learns that the only way he can be near the cat is if he stays calm. But in my experience the vast majority of cats, once they're past the kitten stage and not exposed to dogs with a positive experience resulting, will never be "friends" with the dog, only tolerate them. My experience with a kitten was much better and two months in they were sleeping together and playing.
I watched Taylor’s documentary the other day and when she was talking about having no one to celebrate her Grammy win for 1989 wasn’t she with Calvin at that time?? That’s gotta be a blow to the ego if he ever watches it

Lmao so true that's how every puppy-to-full grown cat introduction I've ever made has gone.
