I love that Beth got real with Randall at the end of the episode and was like I need you to go to therapy for all of ussss. I was so irked that Randall was so closed off during the therapy session, but I'm happy he went back in the end.
“A lot of that had to do with what Sterling [K. Brown] can do as a performer,” co-showrunner Elizabeth Berger told EW.com of the reason behind the creative choice. “As we were talking about this, we started realizing that it would just be absolutely incredible to stay in these long takes with Sterling where you’re getting into his psychology and you’re watching him turn her words over and over again in his mind. And because Sterling is the type of actor that can do that and to live in those minutes-long takes, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do it that way.”
i liked this episode, it felt really balanced and sweet. randall did annoy me (and tbh i was kind of annoyed at his therapist too?) but i LOVED that beth was honest about why she needed him to go. i also unexpectedly teared up at the end with the baseball card - that was soooo sweet
Adult Randall is being an ass. Kevin is doing exactly what Rebecca asked him to do, which is to treat her like normal. She mentioned his New York premiere and he's making that happen for her. Randall would like to bubble wrap her and stick her in a facility so that he can feel like everything is under control. Because only Randall can save the world, right? So many eye-rolls.
edit: yesssss, I knew the shrink was [Spoiler (click to open)]Pamela Adlon! And I thought Randall was being a dick until I realized "it's not that hard, just turn it off when you're done" is exactly something I'd say/do. Why don't people care about details?!?!!?
