Backstory for our non-Canadians: Tanner Zipchen was the host of Cineplex's pre-movie show. Ie, the ads/previews/trivia portion one sees before a movie begins. When he was hired in 2015, Cineplex paid him 52,000 Scene points (frequent movie-watcher points) a year, equating to 1,000 a points a week to be "cashed in" for a free movie. i bank with scotia so i have like 18k scene points banked up. cineplex is still the better option to see a film in montreal - guzzo cinemas haven't been updated since the 90s and also don't take debit or let you pre-buy tickets.

being paid in scene points tho.... jesus

Wow wtf fuck Cineplex. I gave up on Timeplay YEARS ago because I swear it never loaded in time and after awhile I just stopped bothering.

I feel like the prizes aren’t even that good anymore, they used to give out more scene points

That is completely fucked up.

I have a few thousand scene points, I used to get lots through the carrot app. I'm excited it's coming back, hopefully you'll get scene points again.

It was an app in BC and I think one or two other provinces that was encouraging healthy lifestyles. You'd do little surveys and stuff about healthy eating and exercise and earn points. You could earn scene points, save on more points and I think a few others? (You'd pick the one you wanted to earn.) Then they added in a step counter that connected to your health app on your phone and if you made your goal for the day you got points, and then you got more points when you hit streaks. It was a neat app and actually did make me look a little differently at my diet and what not.

It closed down last year but they announced last month or so that they would be coming back sometime but no details yet.
