I was more surprised to see that JR is an adapted screenplay...adapted from what?

It’s adapted from a book called “Caging Skies”. I read this article about how different it is (spoilers for the movie): https://www.slashfilm.com/jojo-rabbit-book/

I was like 6-7 when I saw the movie and he was my first crush. I never got the hubbub over Leonardo Dicarprio.

I loved this movie so thanks to the ontders who told me to watch. I actually don't like the book and I think greta made the story and the characters so much more likeable and human. it definitely deserves the adapted screenplay oscar imo

I don't like the book either lol. Too saccharine for me. But I even liked Beth the saint in the movie.

Same. So many people here convinced me to watch it (I will do that eventually!) and I thought it looked (and sounded) boring initially. This is coming from someone who grew up with the Elizabeth Taylor version of LW on TCM (which was fine for me then, tho I don't know if I've outgrown that film now bc it's been a while). Tumblr is already gifing it like crazy from high-quality illegal downloads and all I can say right now, the cinematography DELIVERS.
