my late mother looooooved the minions for some reason. they always made her belly laugh. whenever i see them i think of her, and i'll probably throw $5 at the local theater on bargain tuesday and go see this by myself in her honor ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hate these characters purely because they are the 'new' mascot of the Tweetys.

What's a Tweety? You know that subset of people whose entire wardrobe was nothing but Looney Tunes t-shirts with stupid (often racist or sexist) sayings on them back in the 90s? That's a Tweety. Also known as T*ump supporters. They've just swapped Tweety for Minions and the wardrobe was swapped for FB memes.
